A spacious white trailer with the words "Equine Express" scrawled across it in large bold blue letters rolled into the drive of Berlington Equestrian Center, and pulled to a stop in the yard where horses were to be loaded and unloaded. When the engine of the truck hauling the trailed had silenced, the animal within made its presence known. A loud and angry screech filled the trailer and spread out into the open air of Berlington, followed by the crash of hooves against the thick walls of the trailer. Again and again they struck out, again and again the crash resounded through the stables, often followed by another enraged whinny. Despite all the noise, the horse couldn't be seen through the narrow windows of the trailer. One would have expected a big beast of a horse, but this equine remained unseen.
The driver and the "co-pilot" stepped out from the truck, hesitating at the gate of the trailer. Although well experienced horsemen, neither of the two seemed to want to deal with the raging equine inside. After several moments, they opened the large back door, revealing the creature inside. She was a small horse, only about fifteen hands tall, and she looked terrible. Years of obvious abuse had scarred her white coat, and she was quite thin. She didn't look starved, but certainly underfed.
As the two men entered the trailer, the horse's fury only got worse. She attempted to rear and strike at them, but was held down by tightly secured ropes. They moved to either side of her, and released the ties that held her down. The little mare lurched forwards, attempting to drag them forward, though she didn't quite have the strength. She burst into the sunlight, and this time really let the world know of her hatred. She rose up into a rear and let her ear piercing screech resonate through the stables. National Honor had arrived.
As the mare's hooves flailed in the air, her eyes caught the only thing she could have wished to see, and instantly came back to earth. She tried to leap forwards, but was held back once again by the men holding her. She fought against their hold, but kept her eyes on the approaching man, her man to be exact.
The look on Tyler's face showed no emotion, though inwardly he was practically exploding with joy. She was finally here, he could finally stop waiting around doing nothing. He moved calmly to the mare, taking the rope from the two men that held her down. The moment the lead changed hands, it was like the formerly crazy horse became perfectly normal. The only evidence of her fit was the sweat that flecked her coat.
"I knew you'd give them trouble Honor." He said as the horse squealed contentedly and tugged lightly at his shirt with her teeth. He then turned towards the men, who seemed astonished by the mare's transformation, and handed them a pre-written check for their troubles. They were about to say that the amount exceeded the bill, but he waved them off silently. Honor was no easy horse to handle, and anyone who got her to her destination safely deserved more than a tip.
The truck rolled away down the drive, leaving no sign that they had ever been there except for the little mare that was left standing happily back with her owner. "Some days I swear you're going to kill someone little girl." Tyler said, running his hand down the crest of her thin neck. The mare just sighed contentedly, and leaned towards him, more than glad to be back with her human.

Kendra walked out of the barn heading toward the paddocks to bring in her pain-in-the-ass horse, Raphael. She watched as a horse trailer stopped in the area in front of her. She spotted Tyler standing there. She blinked. It must be National Honor she thought. She laid her body against the fence and watched as they attempted to take the wild horse out of the trailer. She sighed. Poor horse. She seemed like she had gone so much she thought Just like Jones. She sighed.
She was really nervous about training Jones. He was a wild spirit that couldn't be controlled. At all. She watched as Honor relaxed as soon as she saw Tyler. She smiled. She knew he had the special touch with horses. Calm any dangerous spirit. She wished she could do that. She had a touch to be quite friendly with horses and they could learn to trust her. She watched him. So passionate. She blushed. Why was she even thinking this?

Honor sighed and turned her head towards Tyler, rubbing her head against his chest. She stopped suddenly though, and turned towards the pastures, ears swiveling back and forward as she stared down towards someone. She snorted, and her eyes widened as she watched the stranger. She pulled back on the lead slightly, lifting her head high, and tilting it to the side.
Tyler turned to see what the white mare had seen that made her so nervous. He half expected to see a plastic bag blowing in the wind, or a barn cat, or something along those lines. Honor spooked at everything, it was sort of a problem. He was slightly surprised to see Kendra down at the pasture fence. "Don't be such a ninny little miss." He said to the horse, giving the lead a slight tug. "We like Kendra...a lot." He added the last two words in almost a whisper, as if unwilling for anyone but the horse to hear them.
"Come on, I'm sure you'll like her." He said, starting forwards. Honor was at first unwilling to move, but Tyler just let the lead rope drop, and kept walking. The mare let him get about half way to Kendra before giving a buck and a squeal and racing up behind him to catch up. When she came along side him, he took hold of the lead once more, a smile....a real smile...crossing his face. Honor tended to do that to him...

Kendra watched as Tyler led Honor closer toward her. She saw him smile which made her smile. She was always happy to see him smile. She looked at Honor. She really was a beautiful horse. "She's really pretty," she said to him. Even though, she was underfed and in pretty nasty shape, but she still looked gorgeous. She smiled as he walked closer to her. She placed out her hand for Honor to at least smell. She was fast enough to be able to move her hand out of the way so she wouldn't get bitten. She looked at Honor in the eyes. Her eyes told her that she had suffered through a lot. She understood. So did her owner.

Tyler was never quite sure what to say in response to comments like that. Most people said thanks, but why? It wasn't like they had anything to do with the way the animal looked...okay, well sometimes they did, but he sort of didn't seeing as how Honor was still pretty thin and rugged looking. All in all she was sort of a mess, especially after the trip, her coat was rather matted and her main and tail were in nasty shape too. He didn't blame the drivers at all though, there was no way they could have come close enough to the horse to clean her up on the way down.
"You're not so bad yourself." He said, finally coming to a conclusion on what to say. It was sort of a dramatic understatement, that. Kendra was more than "not bad," she was actually quite pretty...more along the lines of beautiful really. He wasn't sure how to handle the way he saw her, she was much younger than he was, but in the way she acted and was matured, she seemed like the same age as he was. It was a tough call.
Honor eyed the hand warily as Kendra reached out towards her. She trusted Tyler though, he was her human, the one that she drew strength from and vice versa. He seemed to like the girl...a lot...so she couldn't be all that bad. To be perfectly honest, Kendra was the first person Honor had ever come in contact with that Tyler seemed to like. After a minute or two, the mare stretched out her neck towards Kendra's hand inhaling the stranger's scent, and whuffing on the girl's hand. Her lips parted, but teeth stayed together, as if searching for something to eat from Kendra's hand. Finding none, she brought her head back to the normal position, and resumed watching the girl, though this time without fear of her.

Kendra quirked an eyebrow, but then smiled. He was so adorable. She looked back to Honor. She watched her carefully. Her teeth clenched tightly together. At least, she was going to get bitten. Normally, she would pet the horse on the muzzle, but she didn't want to push it. Honor had a troubled past so she wanted the horse's trust before actually touching her. She looked back to Tyler. She really didn't have a responce for him and his comment. She kinda gently punched him in the arm. If she punched any harder, she met have left him a bruise. She really didn't want to do that. She smiled again. "She got here in one piece," she smiled. She looked at Tyler. So cute she thought.

Tyler smiled as she punched him lightly, she didn't need to worry about hurting him...he'd taken a lot more abuse than getting punched by a teen girl, he'd been much younger then too. "Wasn't too concerned about her making it in one piece." He replied, "I was more worried about the two bringing her down. She might be little and underfed, but she still fights pretty good."
He had a feeling that next time he needed to transport the horse somewhere he should probably get a different company to do it...just to make sure he didn't get the same two guys and put them through this whole ordeal...again.
"How're Raphael and Jones doing?" He asked, inquiring about her own horse. As far as he knew, her two horses could be major pains quite often, and he figured he might as well ask. After all, friends were supposed to be there to help each other out, and to help each other out they had to know things. Plus, she was getting to be a bit more than a friend.

She nodded her head. At least, Honor was in good shape or what seemed be. Any horse could put up a good fight even if they were in bad shape. She thought for a moment. Apparently, he doesn't know that I'm just training Jones and that I own Sidney and Raphael she thought. She sighed. "My training with Jones isn't going so well. Raphael actually got close to one horse called Tap. I actually have another horse. Her name is Sidney's Run, but I call her Sidney," she said with a smile. She looked at Honor, then back at Tyler.

Tyler had only heard her make mention of Jones and Raphael before now, and so hadn't a clue that she owned a third horse. He never heard anything about anyone except through them. He wasn't exactly the most friendly person in the world, and didn't know many people...they generally stayed away from him. For most people for some reason he was sort of intimidating. Not in the way that they were afraid he would hurt them or anything, it was just a strange wariness that came over them when he was around that sort of scared them away. He didn't mind too much though.
He was about to reply when Honor's ears pinned back suddenly and her eyes widened. Her head snaked out towards Tyler, her teeth flashing in the light. He saw this in the corner of his eye, and side stepped away from her quickly, getting out of the way of her teeth. He'd been bitten and kicked and just about everything a horse could possibly do, by Honor, and he knew that she could really do some damage. He pushed her head away from him, but never jerked the lead or even feigned to hit her. Any roughness with the mare would totally destroy everything he'd worked up to, and he really didn't want to start all over again.
After the momentary insanity passed, Honor went back to standing peacefully as if it had never happened. "Sorry," Tyler apologized for the mare's antics, "She's still a bit...crazy." He wasn't sure if it was insanity or jealousy that had provoked that attack though.

She smiled. She watched as Honor lashed out at Tyler. She was worried for second, but then she released a breath of air. Tyler sidestepped when Honor lashed out at him. She could be better frigthening if you weren't on your toes at all times around her. She blinked. "Oh...don't worry about it," she replied. She smiled, again. Honor was a lot like Honor, tormented and somewhat destroyed. She sighed. She really had no idea what she was going to do about Jones, though. He was such a good horse. She knew there was a good spirit in his evil body. She really wished she knew what she could do for him.

"If you ever need any help with him," Tyler said, referring to Jones. "Know that I'm always here for you." Although it was direct reference to Jones, it was also sort of an indirect reference to anything and everything. Kendra was the first person who he had ever told anything about himself and not instantly walked away from him. That was what made her special to him...plus there might have been something else there...
Honor seemed to suddenly have an exceedingly rare moment of friendly affection and turned towards Kendra. A light nicker escaped her throat and she took a step towards her. She was an exceedingly moody horse, though lucky lately her friendly swings lasted a lot longer than her hatred did. She was slowly making progress, but it would be a while yet before she was stable.

Kendra pulled her hand from her side and held open for Honor to smell again. She wanted to let Honor know that she wouldn't hurt her. Kendra smiled. "That's good to know," she said. She looked back at Tyler. He was such a good guy. She looked back at Honor. She was such a beautiful horse apparent from the underfed and somewhat crazy part. She was a beautiful horse. The good thing about Kendra was that she can see through people and understand how there truely feeling. She was quite good at that, but sometimes. She can miss a few details here and there.
