Kendra stood at the barn doors with Raphael's rein in her right hand, and Sidney's rein in her left. She wanted to go on a ride with Tyler, but he had no horses to ride. So she offered one of hers. She would give him Sidney because Raphael was a real pain in the ass to ride. Kendra had troubles with him sometimes, but most of the time, he behaved. She waited patiently for Tyler to come. Hopefully he would. She was still doubting if he really did like her. She sighed. Well, it sure seemed like he did. She smiled. She always loved being around him. She would always get a buzzing feeling when she got when she looked at him. Or when he smiled at her or touched her skin. It was such an amazing feeling.

Black marks were formed on a blank piece of paper, a pattern developed in them with each sweep of the pencil. To the untrained eye it would appear that the writer had gone insane and was just putting symbols that meant nothing on a piece of paper. However, in the author's mind, each one had a purpose, a meaning. Each symbol carried its own tune, it's own music within it.
Tyler had always loved music, even when he had been abused by his father. Music was the only thing that hadn't ever disappointed him...until recently when he'd found someone who understood him. Anyway, one of his friends older brothers had written music quite well, when Tyler was about 8 or 9 but had always refused to teach him how to read music. He'd said that it was a secret code that Tyler couldn't ever know. This, of course, had just made him mad, and he'd gone off and created his own way of writing music. He could read regular music fine now, but when he wrote his own, it was always in this unique way that no other human knew.
He hadn't put even so much as a single symbol on paper in a long time, but Kendra, for some reason or another, had inspired him to start again. He never put lyrics to his music, he just wrote it. He pulled his guitar out of its case where it had sat for so long collecting dust, tuned it, and tried the new piece. As he played, he made a few changes here and there to perfect it. After a while, he glanced down at his watch, and cursed under his breath in Spanish. He'd lost track of time and was late.
He replaced the instrument in its case, and hurried out the door, the big German Shepherd bounding along beside him. He pulled the door of his pickup open and let the dog jump in first then followed him. He then pulled out and headed for the equestrian center. The Berlington Equestrian Center was well renowned for having wealthy high end riders there, so what on earth was a Mexican immigrant doing there? No one, except Tyler himself knew that. He hadn't even said anything about it to Kendra.
He pulled into the drive, parked the car, and walked towards where Kendra had specified that they meet. He could see her there, waiting for him, and a smile lit up his face. Jigsaw leapt ahead of him up to Kendra, happily sitting at her feet and staring up at her. He was the world's happiest dog, nothing could faze him. Tyler walked up to Kendra, and came to a stop beside her. Jigsaw turned around quickly, stood up on his back paws, and put his front feet against Tyler's chest, just like he always did when his human finally caught up with him. Tyler pushed him down like usual, Sorry, he apologized, for being late, got a little...distracted.

Her mind was wandering off in a distant place. She wasn't sure what she called it. Often times, she would feel pushed to try something new. She thought when she lived in a different part of the country an old high school she went to freshman year. She was in the choir because she had to do an elective and she felt she had no other choice. She learned to read music which was very interesting subject. The choir director taught her the notes, and how to hear certain pitches quickly. She could easily tell if a note was out of tune or not. It was quite a talent. Not many people at such a young age could hear the wrong pinch like she could. Music could heal the soul of the torn. She learned this quickly.
As she continued her singing career at the high school, many people saw her talent and potential. Her voice sounded like heaven as her choir director said many times to her. She didn't believe any of them. She always think she can't sing or she's horrible. She didn't mind. She liked singing, though. It created a healing process within her heart that helped her got over a lot of things. She missed singing, a lot. Then again, she never really received the chance to sing, anyways. So it didn't matter. Her mind came back to her when she saw a pickup truck came into the parking lot. She blinked, then smiled. It was Tyler. Her heart began beating faster. She could hardly feel a pulse running through her body. It was how she felt everytime Tyler came near her.
So strange, and yet such a wonderful feeling. She enjoyed having a feeling maybe not everyone could feel. She blinked, and then noticed Jigsaw running toward her. A bigger smile grew on her face. She missed seeing the hyper-active dog. Well...maybe not hyper-active, but puppy-like. She gript Raphael's reins firmly. She knew he would try to back away and hid behind Kendra because he didn't like dogs very much. Unlike Raphael, Sidney made friends easily with other creatures. Sidney was a very social creatures, which lit up anyone's day. Sidney reached her head down to eye level with Jigsaw which wasn't much, yet still somewhat of a strain for her. She gently nudged Jigsaw in the side, but when he jumped up on Tyler. Sidney looked disappointed.
Kendra laughed, and gently rubbed her neck. "It's okay, girl. I still like you," she said. The mare's head pricked up quickly, and she whinned happily. Kendra looked back at Tyler, and smiled. Happiness was brimming within her body. It felt wonderful. It was a bubbly feeling. She liked it. "It's fine. I understand," the words came out again. Those words were so familiar to her. She had used them so many times. She almost hated the words, yet they were the most important ones of her vocabulary. Not many people seemed to understand why, either. There was just something in her that caused her to use those words, a lot.

Oksy, so maybe he'd been a little bit more than distracted. It was more something along the lines of finally getting caught up in work. For the year that he'd basically been depressed, he hadn't done much of anything, but now that Kendra was here, he was more inspired. The truth was, he wrote music for a band. He had been a part of it, their guitarist, before his sister was killed, but after that he'd quit and just taken to writing their music for them. After he killed the man, he'd just stopped writing, and had only sent them a letter of apology saying that he needed time off, and nothing more.
Recently though, they had sent him a request. They had lyrics, but they simply couldn't get them to go with music. They'd said that they would understand if he still wasn't up to writing...even though they didn't know why...but would greatly appreciate it if he would give it a go. They'd also said that the guitarist who had replaced him when he'd left had gotten married and quit the band, and they wondered if he might be willing to come back. He hadn't answered them yet. He needed to know if he still had what it took to write and play. So far, it seemed like he did, but he wasn't finished yet, so he needed to do that before he replied with a clear yes or no.
For some reason, He said in reply, I knew you were going to say that. Kendra was the only person who ever understood him, and he appreciated her to an extent that he never thought possible. I'm guessing this is Sidney. He added, referring to the mare. He would readily have ridden Honor, but she wasn't strong enough to carry a rider yet. It would probably be another three months before she could do so.

She smiled, and nodded her head. "This is Sidney. She'll take care of you," she muttered. She held the reins out for Tyler to take. A gentle smile of happiness was on her face. She was such in a good mood. She was finally getting to hang out with him. She remembered what her parents had said this morning to her after she explained to them her situation. They seem to have taken it in for a couple minutes which felt like forever, and said they wanted to meet him before allowing her to do anything with him. If Tyler past their approval, then she could date him, and her parents wouldn't care really. She knew that was all they wanted. She understood them completely.
"I talked to my parents when I came home. They were pretty surprised that I actually have a 'boyfriend'. They want to meet you," she said with a sense of anxiety. She wasn't sure how he'll respond to that. But she had a point though, so did her parents. She hoped he would understand this. They would met him, if they liked him, they wouldn't worry so much about her. As long as they knew, she was with someone at all times. They were never happy when she went out by herself. They actually felt better than she was with someone else, whether it was a boy or not. She smiled, gently, and hoped she would receive a good responce from him.
