Small putter pattering came from the waters as the smooth dappled gray equine. The breed could not be told from such distance that the rider and she were at. The mare smoothed into a walk slowing from a trot. The rider being blessed the title April smoothed the mares mane. Happily the mare nickered as April turned her equine and looked out to the beaches water. The soft morning sun rose from the horizon. April huffed a sigh from deep in as she kicked her equine and turned. They were now loping down the wet sands again. The putter sped up and the patter almost never made a noise. The mare slowed by a rein command as they neared the ending of the beach. April took out a bottle containing fresh water, she pulled out an apple also. April dismounted taking the red apple from her jacket pocket and held it in front of her equines eyes. The mare almost looked hypnotized and bit into the foaming apple very thankful. April tied the reins to a near rock as she climbed its brothers and sisters to see the rising sun better.

The morning sun was half above the horizon, when Zakary Gray walked along the beach, his hands stuffed into his pockets. A senior couple walked past him in the opposite direction, hand in hand. He sighed, and then thought about how he ended up here in Berlington. He still grieved over his sister's death, and he missed her terribly. Not always having someone by your side saddened him.
Up ahead, Zak saw two figures. One that looked like a horse, the other a girl. He wondered if they went to Berlington, cause he did. He kept on walking, until he finally reached them. The horse was a dapple gray, and the girl was a blonde. Then he watched the girl who sat upon the rocks. "Do you go to Berlington?" he called out to her. Zak was always curious, wanting to meet new people.

April sighed and stuck her hand out, the mare pricked her ears and sniffed her hand, seeing there were no treats she turned her big head and bent her crest to sniff the chalky sand. April smiled and sighed again. Hearing the new person approach, April turned her head and tried to see who the figure was, but then she remembered she knew no one. She pulled her knees into a hug and kept her eyes locked on who was walking this way. The Equine pricked her ears and turned as much as the rope would allow for her to see the new coming. The equine nickered and snorted, she turned her body unsure who this new coming was. April stood to untie her mares rope so she could face the person, she stroked her softly. As the boy approached she showed no emotion, when he asked if she went to berlington she nodded and replied in a soft tone, "Yes, I do go there, and you?". She was sure she would know the answer because he asked her.

He stood a couple feet away from the horse, waiting for her to reply. Looking towards the sun, he noticed that it was higher in the sky than it was five minutes ago. Once he heard her reply, he turned his head back to her. "Yeah I do too," he nodded. "I'm Zak," he introduced himself. Zak was in a talkative mood, for some reason, which was rare.

April stroked her mares head, and patted her shoulder. April smiled and nodded her head, "I am April" she held the reins of her mare "And this is Tap Dance, Tap for short." April patted Tap's shoulder again. Tap Dance nickered happily, the equine showed great obedience by standing at her owners side hardly moving. The mares ears stayed pricked taking great interest in the noises coming from their mouths. The words were strange, but once hearing her name she shook her head. April giggled.

Zak listened to her talk, before replying. "Nice to meet you April," he said, with a slight laugh. He stuck out his hand, for the horse to sniff it. He was taught to always make sure a horse knows your scent, and so that the horse wasn't frightened. Who knows? Maybe this equine was one of the jumpy horses, but by the looks of it, the horse didn't look like that type. "Hello Tap,"

April smiled, "Do you have a horse?" she looked to Tap who was sticking out her muzzle to sniff the new commers hand. She was unsure but took a step forword, tap turned and bent her head down looking for grass to graze on, she nickered softly and found a few plants, she nibbled on them. April shrugged and stood there looking at Zak while she pet Tap Dance.

He wished he had a horse, but he was also kind of happy he didn't have one. Yeah it was fun having your own companion, but with that companion, comes great responsibility, and Zak doesn't know himself if he is ready for that kind of commitment. He would rather just bond with the school horses, and help out with them. "No I don't. This horse is probably yours right?" he asked, pretty sure that that was true.

April looked to Tap dance and dropped her reins, she wouldn't run. Tap nickered and kept nibbling on small beach life. April sighed and was shocked that Zak didn't have a horse, but she could understand many reasons why no one would want a horse, but she wanted one.. after she was convinced by her father. April shrugged, "Yes, She is my horse. I wouldn't have her if my father never convinced me to take up riding." she patted Tap on the shoulder and stood there stroking her side.

The sun was even higher up in the sky now, as Zak listened to her reply. He really wants his own horse, but the responsibility is huge! You have to come like every day to take care of it, and even though Zak does come every single day, he has tons of things he has to do around the barn for his job. Maybe he should just lease a horse from someone.. "Yeah my sister talked me into riding.." he trailed off. The thought of his sister silenced him.

April sighed she looked to the sky, the clouds were now returning normal color and no longer their pruples and yellows. She sighed and ran her fingers through Tap Dance's mane. She looked to Zak and sighed, she wished she had a sibling. She looked to her equine and smiled, but then showed no emotion unsure of the silence, "Have you ever thought about getting a horse?".

Zak shrugged, stuffing his hands into his pocket. He looked at the ground. "Yeah I have..I don't know though.." he replied, sadly. Now he was all depressed, thinking about how his sister was murdered. He felt guilty, even though it wasn't his fault. He was beaten, and knocked out. Trying to brighten up a little, he spoke again. "I've been thinking about leasing a horse," he stated.

April smiled and stopped petting her equine. She looked to Zak trying to read him. Her fave went emotionless, as she looked around the sun was now a good ways up. "Whats your favorite riding event?" she loved dressage cause it was like one big dance.

Zak thought about her question. Well.. honestly he didn't have a favorite, since he rode in tons, and liked most of them. Zak never really competed in competitions, just rode the events for fun. "To be honest.. I don't have a favorite," he replied, still thinking if that was true. "I ride in tons of disciplines, so don't really know which one is my favorite,"

April smiled and soon was sitting on the rock again. Her mare was grazing still. He didn't have a favorite? Thats very unique most at leaste prefer another over a few. She shrugged, "I like dressage.. I have only competed once, but not on Tap." April swung her feet over the edge. She shrugged and again and sighed. THe sky was now ful of light and the sun was now normal. April guess it was about 7:00Am but she wasn't sure.
